Markets: Chillva Market
Posted by Amy Bensema | Apr 16, 2016
The newly opened Chillva Market breathes fresh air into the market scene on the island. Located in the Samkong neighbourhood, not far from both Bangkok Phuket Hospital and Tesco Lotus. The market is open every day from 4:00pm - 10:00pm, and features a wide variety of original shops.
Chillva Market is divided into three zones: the tent zone, the container shop zone and the hawker stalls. The container shops sell fashionable clothes and accessories, while the tent zone showcases homemade goods and local art. The hawker stalls feature the popular Thai street food favourites, but Chillva Market is unique in that many of Phuket's trendy cafes and coffee shops have stalls set up during the market. There are also a few bars and cocktail stands.
Chillva Market is a lot of fun, and showcases a cleaner, hipper market than many of the others on the island. It's reminiscent of the JJ Green Market in Bangkok, and definitely has more of an urban vibe. Chillva Market is a great place to wander, chill out and eat.
