Attractions: Khao Phra Thaeo National Park

Lush and green, Khao Phra Thaeo National Park is the last remaining virgin rainforest on Phuket. The national park is home to a number of species including langur, barking deer, wild boar, monkeys and gibbons. Rumor is that there are also still bears roaming the park.

The park is also home to about 100 species of birds. The vegetation of the park is ample, and it features a variety of large trees and interesting plants.

There are several hiking trails within Khao Phra Thaeo National Park as well as a small museum and information center. Trail guides can be hired from the reserve office near Tonsai Waterfall, which is one of the island's most famous waterfalls and located at the entrance to the national park.

To get to Khao Phra Thaeo National Park, take the road heading east from the main intersection in Thalang. You will cut through rubber plantations for about 7kms before reaching the Forestry Department checkpoint and the entrance to the park.
