Attractions: Racha Islands
Posted by Amy Bensema | Jul 24, 2016
The Racha Islands, sometimes referred to as the Raya Islands, are a delightful day trip or overnight destination just south of Phuket. Well know for their pristine waters, the islands boast some fine snorkelling as well as great diving.
Racha Yai Island is where the action is at. There is a fair amount of development here as well as some high end accommodation. If you are looking for something more low key, there are a few bungalow operations. Racha Yai itself is quite beautiful. Lush, green tropical trees and white sand welcome visitors to this little paradise.
Racha Noi Island is uninhabited. The island offers nothing in the way of accommodation or services, but the diving here is spectacular as the corals are thriving.
Getting to the Racha Islands is quite easy, and speedboat and long tail boat transfers are available from both Rawai and Chalong Pier. Depending on the boat, the trip takes 45 minutes to an hour. All inclusive day trips and tours are easily arranged through any tour provider or tour agency across Phuket.
