Attractions: Phang Nga Bay

Phang Nga Bay is famous for its stunning scenery featuring emerald blue bays and limestone karats jutting high out of the water. Situated in a marine park, it is one of the must see locations when visiting Phuket, and can be explored a variety of ways. There are standard bus and boat tours, but with these you miss all of the fun. We suggest you speak with a local and hire a long tail boat to cruise you through the karsts, and also stop to enjoy the small, pristine beaches along the way.

There are two popular destinations in Phang Nga Bay where you will run into tourists. However, in saying that, both destinations should be visited. The destinations are called Koh Panyee and James Bond Island.

James Bond Island got its famous name for being featured in the James Bond movie 'The Man with the Golden Gun'. In truth, the island is a beautiful limestone karsts that towers high against the backdrop. In Thai, this island is known as Koh Ta-pu.

Koh Panyee is a Muslim fishing village built entirely on stilts surrounding rocky limestone karsts jutting out of the water. Although this village is rather traditional, it does get taken over by tourism in the day time. Many of the tours stop here for lunch and allow their guests to by souvenirs. Many of the local families make their money in tourism or in the fishing industry. It's interesting to note that the village is quite self-sufficient with a clinic, a mosque and a school

Most of Phang Nga's sites can be seen in one day, and any tour operator in Phuket can introduce you to an itinerary.
