BANKING

Opening Hours
Monday to Friday: 08:30 to 15:30 (Except Bank & Public Holidays)
NB: Banks in Central Festival and Jungceylon shopping malls are open daily until 19:00 or 20:00 depending on the branch.

ATM machines are available Island-wide at banks, shopping malls and convenience stores. Major credit cards are accepted in large shops and bigger restaurants, however, AMEX is not widely accepted.

Coins: 1, 2, 5 and 10
Satang: 0.25 and 0.50

CLIMATE

Phuket enjoys a tropical monsoon climate with little variation in temperature throughout the year, ranging between 25 °C and 32 °C. There are two seasons, namely dry (high season), which occurs between the months of December and April, in addition to wet (low season) from May to November, where rainfall can be quite heavy at times.

There is a selection of courier services to choose from in Phuket with well-known companies, such as DHL, Fed-Ex and TNT.


LANGUAGE

Thai is the official language in Phuket, however, English is widely spoken and understood.


POSTAL SERVICE

Thailand Post runs an efficient postal service and also offers fast-track options at reasonable rates. The main post office can be found on Montri Road in Phuket Town with several smaller branches in major towns across the island, such as Patong, Kathu and Rawai.

RELIGION

Phuket is a Buddhist island. There are close to 40 temples scattered across the isle, many of which offer an insightful view into Theravada Buddhism. The Muslim community makes up 30-35% of Phuket’s population and you’ll find a mosque in most towns. Taoism is also practised, usually alongside Buddhism. Several Chinese shrines can be found across Phuket, many of which are in Phuket Town.
